In Formula 1, that can mean a driver wears 16 different helmets each season. A new design for each race a challenge for both the designer and the tools. So far, over 46 Formula 1 drivers have worn helmets designed by Munser, many of them World Title winners. But it’s not only famous names from the motor sport scene who love JMD helmet designs. JMD's creativity and dependability are also appreciated among recreational sports people and those who aspire to one day stand among the greats. Sebastian Vettel got his first JMD helmet at just eight years old at a time when he was still racing carts. The team of specialist helmet designers from Lower Saxony are also popular outside of the motorsport world.
Jens Munser sets great store by top quality in his work and that includes his tools. The workshop has used SATA products for a long time. Our compact spray guns, with their wide range of nozzles, lend themselves perfectly to the designer’s purposes. They are ideal even for parts such as rims, bicycle frames or motorcycle parts (such as a tank or a mudguard). “The long service life speaks for SATA quality.” The boss is also impressed at the availability of spare parts. “Whenever we reorder something, we have always been able to rely on rapid delivery. We often receive replacement parts as quickly as the following day. That’s almost as fast as a Formula 1 pit stop!”
I was very impressed with the 4400. The bigger cup connection makes the spray gun even easier to clean. The spray pattern is really very good. Even with difficult colour changes, like going from white to black, there’s almost no mottling. It's almost completely disappeared. What I found astonishing at first, and am still delighted with, is the fact that a 0.5 nozzle is enough to paint an entire helmet. I think that’s down to the high transfer rate.
